Collection: Blue Ombré: Morning Mist Collection
This glaze was new territory for me. I tend to reach for quieter, more muted tones — earthy, understated. But I'd been curious about this blue for a while, and one day I just mixed it and tried it.
How the glaze moves
The result surprised me. This handmade stoneware glaze is brighter than what I usually make, shifting from a deep indigo at the rim down to a softer, almost misty blue — a reactive dip glaze that behaves a little differently on every piece. I called the collection Morning Mist because that gradual lightening reminded me of a sky that hasn't quite woken up yet.
What's in this collection
The blue ombré ceramic mug holds 230ml — a slow-morning size. The matcha bowl is wide and shallow, good for whisking but equally good for soup or rice. And the French butter dish keeps butter soft and spreadable at room temperature, no fridge needed. Every piece is wheel-thrown stoneware, hand-glazed in my studio in Latvia.
I'm still getting used to working with this glaze, so each handmade piece comes out a little different — which feels right for a collection I'm still exploring. A blue ombré piece from this collection also makes a distinctive gift for anyone who loves pottery that doesn't look like everything else on the shelf.
