Ceramic Yarn Bowls

I'm a knitter as well as a potter, so yarn bowls have a special place in my studio. I made my first one for myself — I needed something that would hold the ball in place while I worked, without the yarn snagging on the edge.

Why the spiral guide matters

The spiral slot came from testing, piece after piece, until the yarn ran through smoothly instead of catching. The weight came from knowing how heavy stoneware needs to be to stay put on the table while you knit or crochet. Each hand-carved spiral guide is smoothed by hand until the yarn glides through without snagging, whether you're working with fine wool or a chunkier skein.

What's in this collection

These handmade ceramic yarn bowls are wheel-thrown from stoneware, one at a time, in my studio in Latvia. Some are speckled white, some anthracite, some glazed in teal or blue — all sized generously for skein storage, from delicate wool to bulkier yarn.
